During these times, many of us are fortunate enough to be able to look at our lives and appreciate how lucky we are. Meanwhile, others are suffering through hardship day and night. By virtue of a fitness and fundraising challenge, I hope we can help in our own small way. 

My name is Eric Haeg; I'm an American who's been living in Phuket, Thailand since 2007. I started the 100k May challenge a few years ago as a fun way to encourage people to run, walk or hike at least 100 kilometers in May. With the help of participants, in particular Adrian Allen, the group has grown to over 400 people. My hope this year is to not only encourage a bit of fitness, but also a bit of giving. 

Seeing as the vast majority of the group have some connecion to Phuket, Thailand, I've reached out to The Good Shepherd, a well-established and trustworthy charity orgnanization that runs a center and a school on Phuket. In addition to their normal charity operations, they've been helping feed Phuket families hardest hit by the COVID-19 economic downturn. For more information on The Good Shepherd, please visit; https://goodshepherdphuket.com/

Funds raised by the 100k May group will help Good Shepherd purchase survival kits. Each kit contains adequate food supplies to feed a small family for up to 5 days. Kits include: 3 kilos (6.6 lbs.) of rice, 4 cans of fish and tomato sauce, 1 bottle of cooking oil, 1 can of fish sauce, and 4 bags of noodle soup.

Each kit costs approximately 240 baht. If we can reach our goal of 100,000 baht, we will have helped feed over 400 families for nearly a week. I humbly suggest a donation that will support 1-4 families. That's between 240 and 960 baht (approx 7.50 to 29.60 USD). If you're able and willing to donate more, your funds will not go to waste. 

Please take just a few minutes out of your day to contribute. The returns on your modest donation will positively impact families for days. Families need these supplies immediately, so we hope to be able to donate asap. As such, please donate asap.

Amazed how fast we could get started with taking in donations for our projects. During this Covid-19 crisis, time is of essence, so we were very happy to find this out of the box solution!
