Charity information

Hands Across the Water Thailand Foundation
Almost 20 years ago, Peter Baines OAM, was a forensic specialist who was sent to Thailand as part of the Australian contingent that was charged with the task of leading the international identification effort of the 5,395 bodies that were recovered after the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami. In the aftermath, Peter founded the Australian charity Hands Across the Water (Hands) which has raised THB750 Million. Thailand is the only country to receive financial support from Hands Across the Water. Hands Across the Water Thailand Foundation (HTF) is a Thai-registered nonprofit organization with close to 20 years of history supporting underprivileged Thai children and their communities. Hands fully supports children in three Homes; Baan Home Hug (Yasothon province), Baan Tharn Namchai (Phang Nga province) and Pama House (Chanthaburi province). All three locations + child sponsorship programs make up close to 350 children of varying age groups. The youngest is as little as three months old and extends up to young adults ready for tertiary education. In line with providing a life of choice and not chance, the funds will be used to support Thai children in Thailand through the establishment of the following. Digital Learning Center (Yasothon) Hospitality Training Center (Phang Nga) Agriculture Education Center (Phang Nga)
