The Story

Dearest friends and dance floor lovers,

We were so happy when the news came out that 12x12 didn’t have to shut its gates! It was given new life by a lovely group of people, who like you and us were regulars on the dance floor. 12x12 was saved and for the past 6 months, we have been having the best of times over there.

Now, since the new neighbors moved in across the street we have been getting regular visits inside the bar from our friends in brown. It really ruins the vibe every time. Even though the team at 12x12 has been trying everything to bring down the noise and improve the relationship with the neighbors, the complaints still keep rolling in…

At this point, we are feeling compelled to step in and help to solve the situation, and we feel many of you are with us. The way to go forward is to properly soundproof the venue. Nico will be able to do the job himself, but a lot of materials are needed. That’s where we would like to come in and collect funds to make it happen.

During June we will be hosting a COMMUNITY MONTH at 12x12. Every week will have a special event that brings everyone together on a day filled with love and laughter. All the income from the events will go into buying materials. At the same time, we are setting up an online fundraiser that is open for donations during the whole month as well as a donation box at 12x12. Our target is 100k THB for soundproofing, and everything above it will be directed towards a new sound system.

いつも12×12へのお力添えありがとうございます。この度、皆さまにお願いがあります。

12×12は長きに渡り、バンコクの音楽やカルチャーの発信基地、人が交流できる場所となってきました。2021年には元オーナー、ヒロシの帰国により閉店の危機に陥りましたが、現在のオーナーたちが店を引き継いでくれました。引き継ぎから6ヶ月、新生12×12はヒロシの思いを受け継ぎつつ、さらに進化して様々なイベントを開催し、我々を楽しませてくれました。

しかし、いま12×12は深刻な問題に直面しています。店の向かいに新しく住み始めた特定の住民の方による演奏音についての度重なる申し立てで、合法的で節度ある営業すら難しい状況に陥っています。オーナーはこれまで近隣住民とのコミュニケーション、防音工事、お客様への理解や協力のお願いなど、あらゆる手を尽くしてきましたが、解決には至っておりません。営業継続のため、より強力な防音設備を導入する必要があるのですが、新型コロナ禍での営業時間制限やリノベーションで経営は苦しく、資金が足りない状況です。

新しいオーナーの1人であるNicoは元々家具職人で、自分で防音工事をすることができるため、資材費さえあれば12×12を守ることができます。

そこで、12×12にて6月いっぱい「COMMUNITY MONTH」という企画を実施することに決めました。週替わりでイベントを開催し、イベント収益を防音工事の資材費に充ててもらいたいと考えています。またイベント期間中、下記、オンラインの募金サイトも立ち上げています。
