The Story

I am an Englishman living in the province of Kanchanaburi in western Thailand. I am a keen cyclist and where I can I use my cycling to raise money for local causes, primarily in the field of conservation and youth welfare and education. On the 25th January, 2025, I will be embarking on an un-supported bikepacking adventure around the province of Kanchanaburi in western Thailand. Covering 950 kms of offroad/gravel and tarmac, with over 10,000m of climbing, I will be raising money for a local Kanchanaburi orphanage and education facility call the Dhamanurak Foundation. The foundation is currently home to 112 ophans and under-priviledged children from around the province and provides a stable and caring environment as they grow and learn. All proceeds raised from this ride will be going directly to the Dhamanurak Foundation so any support you can provide will be very gratefully received.

The ride is complete. I finished early evening on Wednesday as the sun set over the Bridge over the River Kwai in Kanchanaburi. It took me 4.5 days and came in at 955 kms, with 10,133m of climbing. I struggled on day 2 from a lack of energy but after a bit of rest and lots of rice, day 3 and 4 were great, and to be honest I felt pretty good as I rolled in to Kanchanaburi for the finish. That said, I am sure it will take me a good few days for me to fully recover. The older you get, the longer it takes! Once again, I wanted to send out a massive thank you to you all for the many donations. We will be visiting the Dhamanurak Foundation next week to see the kids and pass on the funds.

A little less than 2 days before I head out on the Kanchanaburi Loop. Bike all prepared. A big thank you to those who have already donated to the Dhamanurak Foundation.
