I am Olga Proshchenko, the wife of Bert Bevans and the mother of our children, who were born and raised in Phuket. Bert tragically passed away on 5 January 2026. He arrived at Heathrow Airport, where he was found unresponsive. Emergency services were called, and he was taken to Hillingdon Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
An autopsy is currently being conducted to determine the cause of his passing. Bert’s eldest son, Taharqua Osei Bevans, was informed that this process may take one to two weeks. At the moment, we are waiting for the official death certificate from the coroner. As soon as it is issued, we will be able to submit our visa application for consideration.
In the meantime, Taharqua has contacted several cremation services to begin the necessary arrangements and will provide further information once he receives updates from the hospital.
I have been raising funds to support Bert’s farewell ceremony, to cover the costs associated with obtaining an urgent visa to England, and to secure travel tickets for me and our children so that we can attend and say our final goodbye. Your support has been incredibly important to us during this time. Due to ongoing delays and uncertainty around the official documentation, the visa timeline remains unclear, but your help has given us essential support and stability during this devastating period.
This sudden and tragic loss has deeply affected our family, and we are sincerely grateful for all your support, kind thoughts, and love.
If you knew Bert and are in London, please let me know if you would like to attend and commemorate his life.
A wake for Bert will be held on Saturday, 17 January, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at 118 Brick Lane. If you would like to attend, please contact Taharqua directly. Unfortunately, we will not be able to travel to England as originally planned due to visa complications.
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who has already contributed to this fundraiser. Your generosity and support mean more to us than words can express. Although the original purpose of the fundraiser was to help us travel, the funds raised will now be used to cover the farewell ceremony in London and to support our family during this extremely difficult time.
If anyone would prefer a refund following this update, please feel free to contact me directly, and I will of course arrange it.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness, compassion, and support during this painful time.
