Help Chuii with Medical Bills

UPDATE: Chuii is still in ICU but hopefully he will be moved to a normal ward this week. As soon as we know his medical costs, it will be posted on here.

Due to a motorcycle accident, my partner's brother Chuii, suffered a serious kidney injury, among other injuries. He was fortunate that he was not seriously injured or killed.

About 20,000 people die on the roads in Thailand every year. Most of them are Thais. That's around 56 deaths each day.

Thai people are covered under the National Health Scheme known as the Universal Coverage Scheme (UCS), also known as the Gold Card. However, not all medical procedures fall under that umbrella. And there is a caveat when there is an accident on the road.

Unfortunately, Chuii is not 100% covered for his medical bills, and must contribute up to 30,000 baht ($1,300 AUD).

He is currently in the hospital awaiting further tests to see if he will need surgery. His family lives in rural Thailand and live off the land. They are a poor family. Chuii, is also unemployed.

Any donation, even the smallest, will be appreciated and will help Chuii get back on the path of recovery.

Hi all...Chuii has finally been released from the hospital. Thank you again for all the well wishes.

We now have the final bill for his medical treatment. The good news is that the amount is lower than our initial goal.

The new target is 22679 Baht.
