HELP PHUKET'S FORGOTTEN CATS AND DOGS

 This year I’m taking part in the Sprint Triathlon event of Laguna Phuket Triathlon on Sunday, 19th November to raise much-needed funds for Sonya’s Angel Paws Rescue & Adoption Phuket.

This network of volunteers coordinates a variety of activities, in partnership with Thalang Animal Hospital, to help the island’s many stray or abandoned cats and dogs.

Created and led by local resident Sonya Klapko, it brings together Thai nationals and foreign residents, all dedicated to alleviating the desperate plights of innocent, homeless animals.

Bringing Hope to Helpless Animals

The daily and time-consuming work includes:

- Running a sterilisation programme for cats and dogs - to help break the cycle of unwanted  kittens and puppies being born;

- Checking, feeding and medicating stray cats and dogs;

- Rescuing and re-homing abandoned cats and dogs;

- Trapping, sterilising and returning feral and stray street cats through The Soi Dog Foundation’s sterilisation programme;

- Reporting unsterilised dogs to Soi Dog for its dog catcher to collect for vaccination and sterilisation;

- Rescuing abandoned kittens and finding new homes for them;

- Rescuing new born neonatal kittens and puppies who need to be bottle fed;

- Checking remote areas, workers’ camps, factories and abandoned buildings for stray dogs and cats;

- Reporting dogs and cats for medical treatment to Soi Dog;

- Co-ordinating and managing a network of foster families and adopters for cats and dogs in  need.

More information and examples of all these activities can be found on Sonya’s Angel Paws Rescue & Adoption Phuket Facebook page: www.facebook.com/groups/578102483379923

Where Your Donations Will Go

Funds are desperately needed for on-going needs of food, medicine and veterinary procedures to maintain this marvellous voluntary work.

 Any donations, whatever the size, will be greatly appreciated - and all monies raised will be used directly for the benefit of Phuket’s abandoned cats and dogs.

The Event

 The Laguna Phuket Sprint Triathlon is part of the annual Laguna Phuket Triathlon – www.lagunaphukettri.com

 The Sprint comprises a swim of 500 metres; bike of 20 kilometres and run of six kilometres.

 I’m not looking to achieve a fast time, just to get round in one piece and hopefully – with your help – raise vital funds for Sonya’s Angel Paws Rescue & Adoption Phuket.

Many thanks!
