Help Poramas with Brain Tumor Treatment

1

The Story

Poramas is an elementary and secondary school teacher at a private school in Samut Prakan, Thailand. He is a beloved teacher and the main breadwinner of his family who is the main caretaker of his elderly mother and nephew who has not yet graduated from college. He was diagnosed with brain tumor in January 2023. His surgery is scheduled for May 8, 2023. However, the symptoms have been acting up and the tumor itself has grown over the past few months. He had been frequenting the hospital for about two months now (sometimes several times a week) to slow down the growth and treat other complications such as fatigue, shortness of breath, and walking difficulty. Due to the mentioned symptoms as well as his congenital disorder, thalassemia, he doesn’t have the strength to commute by MRT, BTS, or public buses. He can only rely on taxis to go to the hospital and back, which can cost up to 1,000 baht per trip. Furthermore, the medical bill for each visit is several thousand baht, which puts a huge strain on our savings. Additionally, we have to consider the post-surgery medical bill. His doctor recommended drugs that are not covered by the healthcare scheme. And because this is a brain surgery, we will have to reduce the chance of infection as much as possible to prevent damages to the brain, so the doctor recommended he rests in a single room. The doctor has estimated the bill to be 60,000 - 70,000.

Poramas is a quality citizen of the society. In addition to being a dutiful son to his mother and a beloved teacher to his students, he will soon complete his Master’s degree in Science Education (Computer) at the prestigious King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang’s School of Industrial Education and Technology. He also plans to get a doctorate degree. Despite all the hardships, he still fulfills his responsibilities as a student and maintains an excellent academic record. He hopes to use the pay raise to take better care of his mother. In terms of his performance of duties as a teacher, he always employs effective teaching practices. He teaches his students to create databases and design marketing materials, incorporating knowledge gained from his past jobs at several restaurants into practical lessons applicable in real-life scenarios.

We appeal to your kindness and generosity to help us through this crisis. Your donations will be used towards his medical bills, travel expenses, and other treatment-related, post-surgery expenses. We greatly appreciate your help during this difficult time. Your kindness will never be forgotten. And after the treatment, we will dedicate ourselves to being good fellow human beings and citizens of the society to return your favors that give him a second chance at life. We are open for donations until May 31 because it was estimated that he might have to be hospitalized for 2 weeks.
