We do not support or encourage individuals to work as sex workers. Instead, we aim to be a neutral organization that focuses on safeguarding human rights and ensuring justice for every individual. Our mission is to provide protection and assistance to those who face injustice and have no way out, ensuring they receive the dignity and fairness they deserve as human beings

Protection of Rights and Career Support for Sex Workers in Thailand

Introduction

In Thailand, sex workers are among the most vulnerable groups to human rights violations and lack adequate legal protection. Although prostitution is illegal, sex workers continue to face unsafe working conditions and limited opportunities to lead stable and equitable lives. Many are subjected to violence, discrimination, and restricted access to essential health services.

This project aims to protect the rights of sex workers while providing pathways for career transitions, offering them opportunities to build safe and sustainable lives. It will provide legal counseling, career transition support, and awareness of their rights.

Project Objectives

1. Legal Rights Protection: Ensure sex workers understand and can assert their rights within the framework of the law.

2. Protection from Violations: Establish channels for reporting rights violations and assisting victims of human trafficking or violence.

3. Legal Counseling: Provide accessible or free legal advisory services to help sex workers protect their rights.

4. Career Transition Support: Offer training and guidance to help sex workers transition to stable and secure alternative careers, especially for those driven into this profession by economic hardship.

5. Health Support: Promote understanding of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) prevention and access to essential health services.

Current Situation

Sex workers in Thailand face significant challenges due to a lack of legal protection and are frequently subjected to rights violations such as coercion or unsafe working conditions. While the law prohibits prostitution, these individuals often lack access to basic services like healthcare and legal support.

Moreover, many sex workers aspire to leave the profession but face numerous obstacles, including a lack of new skills and fear of discrimination in seeking alternative employment.

Use of Funds (THB 200,000)

This project seeks to raise THB 200,000 to support activities aimed at protecting the rights and facilitating career transitions for sex workers. The budget breakdown is as follows:

1. Registration and Organization Establishment (THB 20,000):

• Register an organization or foundation to protect the rights of sex workers, ensuring a legal status to operate.

• Cover legal documentation and processing fees.

2. Strategy and Operational Plan Development (THB 20,000):

• Conduct studies and analysis to devise strategies for providing legal and health services for sex workers.

• Develop plans for career transition advisory services.

3. Events and Public Awareness Campaigns (THB 40,000):

• Host events to raise awareness about sex workers’ rights.

• Utilize online media to promote the project and increase public understanding.

4. Training and Skill Development (THB 60,000):

• Organize training courses in new skills, such as cooking, cosmetics production, online business, or other sustainable careers.

• Hire experienced trainers to provide guidance for transitioning to new careers.

5. Legal and Health Counseling (THB 40,000):

• Hire legal professionals to provide free or affordable legal counseling services.

• Provide free health services and advice on STI prevention.

6. Administrative Costs (THB 20,000):

• Cover office expenses, including rent, staff salaries, internet services, and other operational costs.

Expected Impacts

1. Enhanced Rights Awareness: Empower sex workers to understand and assert their rights to protect themselves from violations.

2. Increased Career Opportunities: Provide new opportunities for sex workers to transition out of the profession through skill development and job placement support.

3. Improved Access to Legal and Health Services: Ensure sex workers have reliable access to essential legal and healthcare resources.

Protecting the rights and supporting career transitions for sex workers is a critical step toward improving their safety and well-being. This project seeks to enable sex workers to gain societal acceptance and the opportunity to lead stable, fulfilling lives.

องค์กร “FEAR OF FAIRNESS” ถูกก่อตั้งขึ้นจากความมุ่งมั่นที่จะปกป้องสิทธิและศักดิ์ศรีของ Sex Workers หรือผู้ให้บริการทางเพศในประเทศไทย แม้ว่าอาชีพนี้จะเป็นสิ่งผิดกฎหมาย แต่สมาชิกในกลุ่มนี้ยังคงต้องเผชิญกับการละเมิดสิทธิ ความรุนแรง และการเลือกปฏิบัติจากสังคม ในขณะที่ไม่สามารถเข้าถึงสิทธิพื้นฐาน เช่น การคุ้มครองทางกฎหมายและการดูแลสุขภาพ

การก่อตั้งองค์กรนี้เริ่มต้นจากการที่ผู้ก่อตั้งได้พบกับหญิงสาวคนหนึ่งที่ถูกผลักดันให้ทำอาชีพนี้ด้วยเหตุผลทางเศรษฐกิจและไม่มีทางเลือก เมื่อเธอถูกล่วงละเมิดและไม่ได้รับความช่วยเหลือจากหน่วยงานใดๆ การพบเจอครั้งนี้จุดประกายให้ผู้ก่อตั้งตั้งคำถามว่า “ถ้าความยุติธรรมคือสิ่งที่ทุกคนควรได้รับ ทำไมเธอถึงไม่คู่ควร?”

จากคำถามนี้จึงเกิด “FEAR OF FAIRNESS” องค์กรที่มุ่งมั่นให้การคุ้มครองสิทธิทางกฎหมาย การสนับสนุนการเปลี่ยนอาชีพ และการให้คำปรึกษาด้านสุขภาพแก่ Sex Workers เพื่อให้พวกเขามีโอกาสในการสร้างชีวิตใหม่ที่ปลอดภัยและมั่นคง

ภารกิจหลักขององค์กร

1. คุ้มครองสิทธิ: ให้ความช่วยเหลือทางกฎหมายและดูแลด้านสุขภาพ

2. สนับสนุนการเปลี่ยนอาชีพ: จัดโปรแกรมฝึกอบรมทักษะใหม่เพื่อให้โอกาสในการหางานใหม่

3. สร้างความเข้าใจในสิทธิของตนเอง: เพิ่มความตระหนักรู้ในเรื่องศักดิ์ศรีความเป็นมนุษย์

องค์กรเชื่อว่า ความยุติธรรมไม่ควรเป็นสิ่งที่ใครกลัวที่จะให้ และเราจะเป็นสะพานที่ช่วยพวกเขาก้าวไปสู่อนาคตที่ดีขึ้น
