Help Bring Life-Saving Connectivity to a Remote Village in Omkoi
We are raising funds to help a remote village in Omkoi, Chiang Mai, where life is unimaginably challenging. Nestled high in the mountains, this village is accessible only by hours of off-road travel via dirt tracks—and during the rainy season, even that becomes impossible as the roads are washed away.
The villagers live without running water, electricity, or internet, relying solely on what they can grow or raise. Education consists of a single classroom where all 39 children of various ages learn together, only when teachers can be sent to this isolated community. Their daily struggles are immense, but we discovered a critical need that transcends all others: telephone signal.
Why Telephone Signal is a Matter of Life and Death
Last year, while delivering two truckloads of clothing, bedding, food, toys, and other essentials—thanks to the generosity of our donors—we sat down with the villagers to share hot noodles and ice cream. It was during this visit that we learned about their most pressing need: reliable phone signal access.
A few weeks before our visit, a tragic motorbike accident highlighted the danger of this isolation. A teenage boy fell off the mountain road and was seriously injured. The villagers needed to call for an emergency helicopter evacuation, but with no signal for miles, a group of runners had to race to the nearest village to make the call. By the time help arrived, it was too late. This heartbreaking story made us realize how essential phone connectivity is—not just for convenience but for survival.
Our Project: Signal Boosters and Solar Panels
This year, we are focused on addressing this life-saving need by providing:
Cell phone signal boosters to bring connectivity to the village.
Solar panels to ensure the boosters have a reliable, sustainable power source.
The total cost of this project is 60,000 THB. Any additional funds raised will be used for future projects to support this community.
Once the funds are raised, a group of teachers and students from Panyaden International School will visit the village to oversee the installation of the equipment and explore additional ways to help.
How You Can Help
To raise the needed funds, our students have organized a 12-hour Fun Run! Children, family members, and staff will run for as long as they can, collecting sponsorships from friends and family.
If you'd prefer to contribute directly instead of sponsoring a runner, your donation is warmly welcome. Every baht counts toward making a tangible, life-saving difference for this village.
Thank you for your kindness and support in helping us bring critical connectivity—and hope—to this community.
Together, we can save lives.
