Last year, our hearts were shattered when Max (Achyut Kukreja), a vibrant seven-year-old boy with an infectious smile and an indomitable spirit, lost his battle against thalassemia—a genetic blood disorder that affected his ability to produce enough healthy red blood cells. Despite enduring countless treatments and a brave fight that culminated in a lengthy bone marrow transplant, Max left us far too soon. But in his short time, Max taught us the true meaning of courage, resilience, and love.

Max’s journey was not easy. For a very long time, he endured endless rounds of blood transfusions, hospital visits, and treatments, yet he never stopped fighting. His playful energy and determination inspired everyone around him, reminding us that true strength comes not from the body, but from the heart.

To honor his legacy, Max's father (and our team mate) founded the Achyut Kukreja Thalassemia Foundation (ATF) in 2024. ATF exists to ensure that no other family has to face this battle alone. From offering support groups to raising awareness and funding for thalassemia research, ATF is committed to improving the lives of those affected by this relentless disease.

This November, we will come together in the spirit of Max’s bravery. During the ZOAT Field Hockey Tournament, we’ll not only be playing to win—we’ll be Playing for MAX. Through every goal, every sprint, and every swing of the stick, we aim to raise funds for the ATF, bringing hope to countless families fighting thalassemia.
