Hand2Trunk is supporting elephant communities in Northern Thailand. We have been in discussion with our elephant communities about the challenges that they are facing. Due to this crisis, we have a long term goal for elephants and mahouts who are taking care of elephants every day. We believe that food is so important for both mahouts and elephants. Rain has started recently in the northern regions, we plan to support our elephant communities to grow grass to provide for elephants.
Mahouts play a crucial role in taking care of elephants. also want to support mahouts communities to start growing their own food and we hope to raise the fund for mahout families' expenses. We believe this is a sustainable way at the moment to at least ensure the elephants will have food for a year. Here is the list of projects that we are supporting;
Elephant Carer Home
Hauy Pakkoot Elephants Community
To rent farm lands to grow grass, providing food while the grass is growing and the cost of mahouts' expenses and 50 elephants will cost 350,000 baht or 10,850 USD
If you make $50 donation or $60 for a group of friends- you will get an online Thai cooking class wit P'Ann (please email hand2trunk@gmail.com)
If you make $100 you will get to have a virtual meet witu a herd of elephants and their mahouts (of course can be in English) Please email hand2trunk@gmail.com
We would like to say thank you for your support helping to empower those communities who are on the ground caring for the elephants in these most challenging of times.
