Swim Challenge Phuket

SCP is a remarkable event where Todd Blankenship, a U.S. Marine, single father, writer, and long-time Phuket expat, will undertake an unprecedented SOLO swim around the entire island covering 140 kilometers over fourteen consecutive days. The challenge aims to engage the local community and global participants to swim alongside Todd, promoting awareness and raising funds for the "Save a Child Swim" charity. Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Patong and many local and international businesses the goal is to raise 3.5 million baht to teach 30,000 children how to swim and save themselves in an emergency. With the help of the Rotary Club, these funds will be distributed throughout their network all over Thailand.

Drowning-related accidents account for 56% of all childhood deaths in children under 15 in Thailand. The #1 cause of death for children by far and the highest drowning death rate per capita in the world.
From 20 January to 3 February, The Rotary Club of Patong will be sponsoring a very ambitious charity event to help fund our “Save a Child” swim program. A program that helps teach disadvantaged children how to swim and self-save in an emergency situation. Todd Blankenship, a U.S. Marine, father of five, and local expat since 2016, will be attempting to be one of the first people to solo swim around Phuket breaststroke. Whatever your level of participation in the event we hope that you and yours will join us on Bangtao Beach on 03 February for an event unlike any other. Showcasing multicultural music, dancers, artists, and Todd himself as he completes the lap around the island in the most fantastical showcase Bangtao Beach has ever seen.
