In January 2024, Grant ‘Axe’ Rawlinson formed a team of Phuket-based expats and created ‘The Million Baht Swim’. The purpose was to engage the community to raise one million baht for the Good Shepherd School while having an amazing adventure together. The project was a success, and Axe became the first person to complete the 122km lap of Phuket Island (without the use of swimming propulsion aids). The team, with the support of the community, raised 1.1 million baht for the Good Shepherd School. Building on the success of The Million Baht Swim, The Million Baht Phang Nga Bay Adventure’s purpose is to form a team of like-minded adventurers to make a 350km human-powered circumnavigation of the beautiful Phang Nga Bay by foot, bicycle, and kayak from 26 November to 1st December 2024. This effort aims to raise one million baht to buy a new school bus for the Banya Literacy Centre in Phuket. We will strive to have a wonderful adventure, involve the community as much as possible (by getting people to join the final day’s 40km walk), and raise one million baht for the Banya Literacy Centre in the process.
