The Appointment

The first thing we needed was a registered VET. The only one on the island was Dr. Gde and he was an hour away from where we were staying. We hopped on the scooter for the big journey to Mataram with Gaia snuggled between us. 

We were warmly welcomed by Dr. Gde and knew he was the right person to help us help Gaia. After speaking with him for several minutes it quickly became apparent how passionate he was about his job helping stray animal. We also learned how he plays a key role in the treatment of street dogs/cats and resolving friction between the local community and the street dogs. 

We sat down with Dr. Gde and discussed our options. We made a plan and started that very day with Gaia's first shot. 

What do we need?

The funds we raise will solely be used to help get this pup to get vaccines, Veterinary costs and paperwork Any donation helps, no amount is too small. If you cannot donate please help us get the word out by sharing with your friends and family.

Cost Breakdown

Vaccinations and veterinary costs: 150 USD

Indonesian certificate of health and adoption papers: 250 USD

Any excess funds will be donated to Dr. Gde's project fighting the stray dog mistreatment in Lombok. His mission is to rehabilitate injured and abandoned animals, find them adequate homes, educate people on how to properly treat their pet and to provide free to low coast vet services, like neutering and shots, to every animal brought to him. The people in this area of Indonesia are raised believing that dogs are scum and a disgrace to even touch. On the street you often see locals spit, kick and terrorise dogs as that is what they know. If it wasn't for his petitioning, the government,

with support from the majority of the population here, was going to poison the thousands of stray dogs throughout Lombok. Dr. Gde is in the beginning stages of building an enclosed space of several hectares of land for all of the stray dogs in the Kuta, Lombok area. Here he will neuter, feed and provide shelter for all of the dogs in the area. In this small period of time Dr. Gde and Gaia have stolen our hearts. Although this issue is much larger than saving one puppy, giving her the best future possible would mean the world to us. And more importantly, it will give her a chance of a future and a well deserved happy life in a Country were dogs are loved and respected.Not only will you help us make this possible, you will also help to end the ongoing struggle between stray dogs and the Lombok community.
