My name is Alex. I have been living in Bangkok for 9 years and on Friday March 28th I was at home during the biggest earthquake to hit the region in over 100 years. While the earthquake shook Bangkok, damaging numerous buildings and sadly taking some lives, it is not comparable and very hard to imagine what the situation must be like 1000km away in Myanmar. It must be a living hell.
12 years ago I was lucky enough to visit Mandalay and Sagaing, which is where the epicentre of the earthquake was. It was an incredibly unique experience for me to be able to visit this amazing country during a short window of opportunity where the borders were open. Unfortunately, in 2021 yet another military coup took power and have brought nothing but suffering to the innocent people of Myanmar ever since. The earthquake couldn't have come at a worse time. The country is divided by war and is entering the hottest and wettest time of year. They really need a lot of help.
The only logical way of being able to do that though from Bangkok is by appealing for donations and then sending money to rescue and aid workers in local communities in the Mandalay area. Please rest assured that any donations made, no matter how big or small, will have a positive impact.
All proceeds will go to Freedom Impact in partnership with Bangkok Community Help Foundation who with help from Burmese partners are providing shelter, food, water and medical supplies to communities in Myanmar.
Thank you in advance for your support!
