Need funds for health insurrance

58 years ago, a soul came into a body on this planet among billions of others.
My birthday doesn't mean anything to me but age reminds me I am getting older.

I feel privileged I am still alive as both my parents were not anymore at that age, neither was my older brother.

Life has been a lot of struggles and difficult emotional experiences when I was a child and as a result I started to search the true meaning of life very early.

A lot of pain was necessary to bring me closer and closer to the truth, or shall I say deeper and deeper, as the answer to everything in us.

I also feel so privileged that my path brought me on this still beautiful Island where I arrived 13 years ago with my luggage and my 4 Belgian cats, all rescued of course.
I love so many things here.... the sea, it's exuberant nature, people's kindness, the weather, the smells, the sounds of the insects when I am in my bed...... and of course it's animals, so dear to me.

This place truly saved my life as I was really struggeling at that time of my life with addictions and depressions. Beeing surrounded with nature and animals helped me to find harmony in myself and around me. And it helped me to discover my true calling in life : helping animals in need and try to make as many possible animals happy.

How lucky I am to have found my true passion as it is the only thing that truly fulfill's me. Again I feel privileged about that because a lot of humans never get to express what's theirs.

So now, as a result I share my house with 45 dogs and 17 cats and they are my family. 

Aside of that, I feed and treat dogs in my neighbourhood and will always assist if a animal needs help.

As a result of living now permenantly in Thailand to take care of the animals, I do not have any health insurance since many years. Luckily no bad accident or disease hit me all those years and my health is still OK minus the normal wear and tear!

All the money goes to the care and feeding of animals at home and on the streets, unfortunately there is not enough left for my healt insurance.

But this situation makes me anxious and is worrying me more and more because who will take care of the animals if something happens to me and therfore I need to go back to Belgium to get Health Assistance??

It is imperatif I get a Health Insurrance that covers me here in Thailand, right on this Island.

This is why I am creating this fundraiser as the chances for me to get physical problems increases of course every day.

Unfortunately I have no more money as I funded the animal care many years without support.

I have asked a few agencies for prices and the first estimation came as a shock as I would have to count 100.000 Thai bath (3175 us dollars or 2800 Euro) per year.

Something I have not, so I am asking to anyone who likes what I do for the animals or who likes me, can you plse help me?

In three weeks I will be 60 years old. 

I have been helping animals in need since more than 15 years on the Island of Koh Samui. 

My Sanctuary Happy Tails counts 56 dogs and 38 cats. 

I am asking for financial support for my birthday so that I am able to continue my work of feeding, treating the animals in my care and several street dogs asswell. 

This is where the money would go:

1/ I have started to rehome dogs as the amount of work is getting to much for me.

Each dog send to Europe or Canada or the US cost money to prepare the animals so they can be exported. Blood count, microship, vaccines, titer test if necessary, travel box, health check at airport, flight ticket and éventuel other travel costs in some cases. 

2/Our vet bills never end up raising. 

Those last months have been very heavy on them as two dogs were very sick for a long time and now one cat is between life and death. 

3/We need to make urgent reparations to the Sanctuary as bamboo benches and some houses for the dogs need reparations again. With the rainy season just behind us, lots of stuff staying outside is destroyed unfortunately on a yearly basis. 

As everyone this year

4/Our bank account for general expenses like food, daily meds, deworming and tick and flea treatment is very low as Covid makes it difficult for our monthly sponsors to keep up.

I cannot help animals without your help,
