I am: Amai Amai Poul. I am sick and need help. Lacunar infarction.
Lacunar infarction (LI) refers to a small penetrating artery in the cerebral hemisphere or deep brain stem. On the basis of long-term hypertension, the vessel wall is diseased, leading to occlusion of the lumen and formation of a small infarct. According to statistics, the incidence rate is quite high, accounting for 20% to 30% of cerebral infarction. Common sites of the disease include the putamen, caudate nucleus, internal capsule, thalamus and pons, and a few are located in the radial crown and subventricular zone. The arteries in these areas are mostly small arteries called deep perforating branches, which are actually the distal branches of the cerebral arteries, also known as the terminal branches. Due to the limited range of blood supply to the deep perforating artery, a single obstruction causes only a small amount of ischemic necrosis of the brain tissue, that is, a so-called cavity is formed. Lacunar infarction is a cystic lesion with a diameter of 0.2 to 15 mm, which is multiple, and the small infarct is only slightly larger than the vessel diameter. After the necrotic tissue is absorbed, the small cyst can remain.
Clinical manifestation
The basal ganglia and brainstem in the deep brain are important pathways for many nerve fiber bundles to travel, and are the bridge between the brain and the body. If lacunar infarction occurs in these pathways, it will block some of the nerve conduction and produce symptoms such as motor, sensory or speech disorders. Due to the small cavities, sometimes only the movement fibers or sensory fibers are affected, and pure motor hemiparesis occurs, or only a half-length sensation without hemiplegic occurs. However, not all cavities that occur can cause symptoms, and only those that involve important neural pathways or neural structures will behave, otherwise there may be no symptoms.
The general symptoms are dizziness, headache, limb numbness, dizziness, memory loss, unresponsiveness, convulsions, dementia, unconsciousness, and psychiatric symptoms are rare. The main clinical signs were tongue stiffness, slow speech, altered tone of speech, mild central facial paralysis, paralysis of the limbs or sensory disturbances, partial pyramidal tract signs positive, and ataxia was rare.
Thank you friends for helping me.
