Phuket Women’s Peer Support Group for Emotional and Mental Health

SUMMARY

The objective of this campaign is to raise money for the Phuket Women’s Peer Support Group for Emotional and Mental Health. The money raised will be used to buy more mental health support resources to be used during the meetings.

BACKGROUND

Hello, my name is Milla Budiarto. On January 15, 2022, I founded the Phuket Women’s Peer Support Group for Emotional and Mental Health in Phuket, Thailand. The peer support group meeting is led by me and another co-facilitator who is a certified counselor. We meet every other Saturday morning in a private room at a café in Phuket Town. The peer support group meetings are free of charge and open to English-speaking Thais and foreigners in Phuket who identify themselves as women. I occasionally invite a guest speaker to give a 60-minute talk on various topics related to mental and emotional health such as anxiety, breathwork techniques, introduction to meditation, trauma and the legacy effects, embodying greater resilience, introduction to role theory, confidence and self-acceptance, and also organized 2 extended workshops so far on life web: community of connections and Family Constellations.  

Additionally, I successfully organized 2 Mental Health Talks in October 2022 to take part in World Mental Health Day and a second one held in December 2022. These talks are open to the public and are donation-based, wherein 100% of the money collected goes towards the support group. Happy to say that we were able to buy a self-help deck called Affirmators! However, we need more card decks to help facilitate these meetings and these decks are quite costly. So, we need the community’s support to help us help others. Every baht counts.
