Our Story
New Blood Learning Center, a Burmese migrant school was founded in 2003 with a group of teachers from Myanmar. The purpose was to provide education and basic needs for migrant youth from Myanmar who came along with their parents working in Thailand. Since the start of the academic years, the school did not have a stable or proper funding due to not receiving any formal support from the governments or related agencies. It was basically funded by some generous individual donors and most contributions are one-time donations. This had led to a funding crisis for the school, students and teachers as a whole.
At the beginning of the school opening years, teachers did not get any stipend or benefits and oftentimes they leave the school within six months or one year in order to find a new and better job to provide for their living. Despite being in a tough situation, the school has been thriving and progressing in terms of academics year after year with the help of volunteer teachers and eager and active individuals.
The school used to be a small primary school but now it has been expanding the education services from primary level to General Education Development (GED) which is an internationally recognized high school completion examination. After GED education, the students from New Blood continue to pursue their further studies in various countries and some are already in their graduate studies.
Although the school can provide food and living for teachers, it cannot provide sufficient funding for them and this became an issue for teachers to maintain their capacity at school as well as difficulty in maintaining skilled teachers for the school's future and success.
Now you may be thinking how to help us out. Well, if that is what you would like to do, we would like to explain our current needs. As mentioned above, teachers' stipend or salary is not fully funded monthly, so your $150 can make a great impact for one month's stipend for a teacher and we will use 100% of them for teachers' cause.
Our Target:
-Our target is to pay the stipend for 15 teachers monthly,
-With $150, we can support a stipend to one teacher for a month,
We believe every single dollar counts! Your generous help can transform our Burmese migrant teachers' lives and it is definitely your future and your success. A famous proverb once said, "little by little, a little becomes A LOT."
Thank you very much for your time and donation. It means a lot to us.
