Background
In the year 2020, a group of lgbt+ students founded QBA. Study groups at first brought together activists from the queer community among the students, even before the group was formed. Studying the initial conditions of the queer community; providing support for the urban poor lgbtqia+; producing articles; and establishing reflection gatherings.
Our organization, which began in the student queer community, took part in nonviolent street demonstrations for democracy, human rights, and federalism during the military coup of 2021. Following that, we deal with military brutality. We were unable to carry on with activities since some of our members had to leave for their lives because they were imprisoned.
It was established in 2022 to reunite LGBTQIA+ individuals activists who had fled to border regions, reached out to ethnic communities, and live covertly in a city under the rule of a military dictatorship in order to continue operations and protect the human rights and security of the LGBTQIA+ population under the military dictatorship.
Our organization has been methodically rebuilt to support these enormous and varied groups and to further our objectives. We have been founded to actively advocate for the advancement of human dignity via the power of young LGBTQIA+ people from student unions, workers, and other professions.

On March 28, 2025, a devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar, leaving over 3,360 people dead and thousands more displaced, injured, and in urgent need of food, shelter, and medical care. Among the hardest hit are women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and marginalized communities, who often face additional barriers in accessing aid. Queers of Burma Alternative (QBA) is mobilizing an emergency relief effort to ensure that those most vulnerable receive the support they need.
Donations will be used to:
Baht350,000: Immediate relief (food, medicine, hygiene kits, temporary shelters) Baht240,000: Direct financial assistance for displaced women and queer individuals Baht110,000: Gender-disaggregated data collection to assess long-term recovery needs By supporting this campaign, you’re ensuring that aid reaches those often left behind in disaster response. We believe that relief efforts must be intersectional and inclusive—your donation will help create safer conditions for those who need it most.
