The Story

Hi I’m Vin, I am fundraising for my brother who is diagnosed with brain cancer. BB and I had worked here in Thailand as teachers together for 3 years from 2017 to 2020. In January 2020 earlier that year, he managed to fly home to celebrate his birthday in the Philippines unfortunately, COVID-19 outbreak was declared a global emergency and lockdown was imposed. I couldn’t follow him home and he couldn’t come back to Thailand.

During the lockdown, his pursuit to learning didn’t stop. He finished his education units and he’s about to take the Licensure Examinations for Teachers in October this year. However, last August I got a call from my sister saying there was something wrong with BB. I had to personally talk to him to see it up close what was going on with him. We talked, he was very emotional, he felt alone and he felt out of place. I also noticed his eyes were quarterly close. His reasoning seems OK but when asks simple things such as “Where is the toilet?” he is unsure where he is. Clearly there was something wrong with him, we also asked him if he wanted to be bring down to the hospital and his response was he is afraid of traveling. Later that night, he was restless, anxious and doesn’t want to eat anything. Objectively we didn’t know what to do, so we called for emergency and ambulance came, the only way he could be brought to the hospital is him being sedated.

When we arrive at the hospital, series of tests have been made CT scans and MRIs result came out, and there our world was shocked by devastating news. BB has developing tumors causing issues with his eyes and behavior. We were told that he has an 80% survival rate if we can get him treatment. His fight for life is strong and inspirational.

BB is very young at age 26 he could do a lot of things, he is a tremendous teacher - who has worked here in Thailand teaching kids English for years, a generous friend to his HS and College batch mates, a respectful person to the elderly, an overall great human being to be around with and most importantly a beloved brother to me and to my family.

On this note, I am humbly requesting for your help to get BB back to health so he can continue with his life and dreams and come back to us and my family who love  and miss him dearly.
