Good Shepherd Home Foundation

Since 2009, Sister Lakana the Good Shepherd Centre in Phuket Town, Sister Lakana has worked tirelessly to educate the poor, give urgent health care to the sick and empower women & children to avoid human trafficking & explotation. 1) EDUCATION - Good Shepherd Learning Centre - Educated over 800 children since 2010 250 children currently registered Success Stories One student is now a teacher at the school, another is training to become a doctor, others are now employed as administrators in sectors such as the construction industry. COME & VOLUNTEER for an hour a week teaching English, Crafts, Games, Reading 2) EMPOWERMENT OF WOMEN - Migrant women and children are empowered to protect themselves from trafficking or exploitation. Trained in various skills from natural soap making, hair dressing and sewing classes. Encouraging the women to use these skills to break the cycle of poverty and be more self-sufficient. 3) MEDICAL CARE FOR THE SICK & VUNERABLE GS conducts weekly visits to 20 slum areas by a qualified nurse providing urgent medical care & medicine, especially to children with serious illness and pregnant women.

1) URGENT Medical Cases

a) BABY AYE needs a lifesaving operation - B92,000

b) Khun Hen- needs a Caesarean Operation - B 60,000

2) We need to deliver FOOD to the STARVING / Milk for the children

a) 52 families and 99 children on June 26 - Baht 15,600

b) 48 families with 94 children on July 3 / Baht 14,000

3) EDUCATION - 250 children will start Good Shepherd School on July 1st.

2) Khun Hed delivered a healthy baby

3) Every 2 weeks, we have delivered Survivial Food Bags to over 100 desperately poor families

4) Education: Our school opened in August for 250 disadvantaged children

5) We started a Teaching Program with 12 wonderful volunteers
