The Problem

Every year, farmers burn rice stubble to clear their fields for the next planting season. This practice releases toxic pollutants into the air, harming millions across Thailand.

To put it in perspective, Thailand burns 23,526,300 acres of rice fields annually—nearly 992 times larger than the area affected by the Los Angeles wildfires (23,713 acres). This vast scale explains why Bangkok’s Air Quality Index (AQI) is significantly worse than Los Angeles’, underscoring the urgent need for change.
