A Final Step to Change My Family's Life: Fundraising for German B1 Exam to Support My 89-Year-Old Grandmother and Repair Our 70-Year-Old Home
"My grandmother’s breath and my parents’ well-being are the reasons I must fight until the end."
Hello everyone, my name is Suthida Thongsuk. I am 31 years old. Today, I am reaching out to ask for your support as a final step to help lead my family out of long-standing hardship.
A Home More Than 70 Years Old: A Risk in Every Rain
Currently, I live with my father, mother, and grandmother in a wooden house that is over 70 years old. The structure is decaying, and the wood is rotting. During the monsoon season, I live in constant fear every time it rains, worried that the house will not be able to withstand the storm. My greatest fear is that one day, the house might collapse on my family.
Most importantly, my grandmother is 89 years old. She suffers from a cerebral embolism (stroke), which makes walking difficult and requires ongoing physical therapy. While she is not bedridden, she needs close care. My parents are also elderly and have chronic health conditions. As their daughter and granddaughter, I dream of seeing them live in a safe, sturdy home that can actually shield them from the rain.
I Have Given Everything, But I Refuse to Give Up
Participating in a volunteer program (BFD) in Germany is the only way I see to truly change my family's future.
I haven't just sat back and asked for help; I have fought with everything I have:
I invested my last savings in German language classes up to the A2 level. (Although I did not pass my previous exam, I haven't given up and am ready to fight again for the B1 level. I failed the exam because I was just 6 points short.).
I completed an internship at a childcare center and received a certificate to ensure I am skilled and ready for the work.
I have already prepared my passport and initial documents using my own funds.
However, the costs of traveling between provinces to Bangkok for classes, managing documents, and previous exam fees have exhausted my savings. I no longer have enough funds for the rising costs required to take the B1 exam, which is the final requirement for my visa.
Fundraising Goal: 65,000 THB for the Survival of 4 Lives
I have calculated the necessary costs to cover this journey as follows:
10,400 THB: German B1 Language Exam fee (Goethe-Institut).
Travel and Accommodation in Bangkok: For the exam and visa processing (as I live in a rural province).
Document Translation and Visa Fees.
Airfare and Initial Living Expenses for the start of my work in Germany.
Note: This amount is an initial estimate. Should there be any unexpected or hidden costs, I promise to work my hardest to cover the remaining balance through my own labor.
My Promise
Going to Germany is not just for my own experience; it is to find a way to earn an income to repair our 70-year-old home and provide proper medical care for my grandmother and parents. I promise to pass the exam and work as hard as possible to honor the kindness you have shown me.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving my family a chance at a new life.
