The Story

Hello and thank you for visiting this page.

My name is Peter Garner and I am helping to raise funds for Kantaya Moelae's surgery treatment costs to correct her left leg after an accident and healing that hasn't gone well.

All donations will be paid directly by this website to the Vajthani Hospital (a sponsor of this website) or Kantaya.

The Accident

Kantaya had a motorcycle accident at 19 years of age on August 6th 2018. She went over a pot hole in the road, fell off her bike and was unconscious in the road, a rural setting. People slowly came to help her, and then a drunk driver came and plowed into Kantaya, with a pickup truck. One other person was injured also. Kantaya had multiple injuries to her legs, including deep cuts and a broken tibia and fibula in her left leg. The Police were involved and the driver was found to have no insurance.

Kantaya was treated at Chiang Rai Prachanukron hospital for two nights, but no surgery was offered and then returned home to the northern mountain area of Thailand to be with her family. Due to her parents spiritual believes and Kantaya being below 20 years of age, they wanted her to be treated by a local healer. Kantaya did not agree but went along with the idea under pressure from her parents. Unfortunately this didn't work out very well, the leg has healed but isn't straight and is now 2cm shorter.

About Kantaya

Kantaya is a bright spirited fun loving young lady with her life ahead of her. She has been selling cakes at a local market and learning English. She likes to sing and enjoys spending time with her friend's and family. She's treasured by all.

The Surgery at "King of Bone" Orthopaedic Center - Vajthani Hospital Bangkok

The team of Doctor's at "King of Bone" Vejthani Hospital in Bangkok have examined Kantaya and say they can fix her leg although it's a complicated procedure, but she's expected to make a full recovery. First they have to cut the incorrectly healed fibular and tibia and then insert a metal rod inside the tibia to straightened and correct its alignment 100%. Then lengthen the fibular and tibia bones by re-using bone that has previously healed incorrectly (x-ray: bone lump sticking out). The metal rod will be permanent and fixed with nuts and bolts further up and down the tibia bone. Recovery time 2 to 4 months with no pressure allowed on the leg, and longer for full recovery. Healthy nutritional eating and exercise essential.

Asking for your help

I wanted to help organise this and do some fund raising to make this procedure possible and restore Kantaya's quality of life. She already has issues with her lower back due to walking with one leg 2cm shorter, but the Doctor's say this will be corrected once her leg is fixed as she is still young.

I kindly request for your help to get this beautiful young lady back to health again with her walking corrected, so she can continue her life without being reminded everyday of the terrible accident. Hope you can agree Kantaya needs some help and make a contribution of any amount, everything will help, from $5 / £5 or 300 THB, whatever you can spare. If everyone who visits this page donated a small amount we would be able to get the surgery booked in. Finally, thank you for spending your time here reading this. Very much appreciated for concidering.

All donations will be paid by this website directly to the hospital or Kantaya.
