There is no Tooth Fairy in the rural North to make sure that kids grow up with healthy teeth. Where Warm Heart works, the only dental care available is extraction. Children get cavities. (What children don’t get cavities?) The cavities go untreated. The tooth breaks. The child gets an infection. The tooth is extracted. This sets in motion a process that generally results in the last tooth coming out in twenty years – age 35.
Imagine that you were gumming your food at 35. Not a pleasant thought, is it?
So please support Operation Tooth Fairy.
Operation Tooth Fairy takes poor kids to the dentist before the trouble begins. Ironically, there may be no dental care where we are, but 90 kilometers (50 miles) away in Chiang Mai the highest quality, modern dentistry is available, always at a low cost, sometimes at a discount for NGOs (nonprofits) like Warm Heart.
We need your help.
More children need the Tooth Fairy than Warm Heart can afford and Some children already require expensive specialist dentistry such as root canals and crowns that are beyond the Tooth Fairy’s budget.
Please help:
Deep cleaning $20/600 THB
Filling: $20/600 THB
X-ray: $30/900 THB
Root canal: $225/6,750 THB
Post and crown: $400/12,000 THB
Operation Tooth Fairy hopes to raise 150,000 THB, enough to bring 50 kids for cleanings, x-rays, and cavities, plus to save 3 molars with root canals and crowns.
Will you be a Tooth Fairy?
Why trust Warm Heart? Who are we?
Warm Heart Foundation is a registered Thai foundation (CM273) with an American, IRS tax-exempt 501.c. 3, nonprofit partner. We serve the rural poor of the North from our headquarters in A.Phrao. We started from nothing 10 years ago. Today, 45 kids live in our Children's Homes and attend local schools. We sponsor another 35 at a local, government boarding school, have 6 kids away at vocational-technical high schools and 16 at university. Our Microenterprise Project provides jobs to women's cooperatives and has an annual turnover of more than one million baht, all reinvested in the Project. We have trained hundreds of small farmers and last year our biochar project was recognized with a World Energy Globe Award. Our Wellness Program for the abandoned disabled and elderly provides weekly bathing, cleaning, cooking, errands and hospital transportation services.
With our other responsibilities, we haven't yet been able to shoulder children's dental health.
We appeal to you and your generosity to make it possible to save all these beautiful smiles.
"Thank you!" from the children of Warm Heart! The first two children to benefit from this campaign were Tangua and Mint. They had both been to the local dentist and were still in pain. Dental4U in Chiang Mai http://www.chiangmaidental4you.com/ agreed to discount basic cleanings and fillings and minimize costs on more complex procedures. Both needed repeat visits to prep their teeth for root canal work. (Tangua and Mint have learned to take the bus to and from Chiang Mai for follow-ups.) Today Tangua is off at Nursing school and Mint is smiling at Phrao High School.
