We at the Saving 733 Trust are planning to bring back SRT No.733 (JNR Class C56 41) to a statically displayable conditon in Phuket, Thailand.
SRT No.733, (formerly JNR C56 41) was built in 1936 as part of the second batch of JNR Class C56s for the Japanese National Ralways (then Japanese Government Railways). The locomotive was then Shipped to Thailand to help with the war effort during WW2. After that, the locomotive served the State Railways of Thailand until about 1975, when it was left to rust on a siding in the vicinity of the SRT's Makkasan Works in Ratchathewi, Bangkok. This particular example of the class was one of the 9 lucky survivors to be preserved in Thailand, although the loco is the one in the worst condition.
We at the Saving 733 Trust, will be bringing back 733 to a statically displayable condition, and with your help, we can make that possible!
The island of Phuket, has never seen any rail access, so our goal for this trust is to bring a locomotive to the island for the younger generation who are interested in steam locomotives to learn about them.
