Tuta is a kind gentle soul who desparately needs your support
Tuta has Down Syndrome and faces many hurdles in daily life. Her health is a great concern as she has heart disease, diabetes, hypertension and is obese.
Tuta and her mother live together in a small house her mother had built for them. Her mother works full time, 12 hours a day, 7 days a week and unfortunately has to leave Tuta to care for herself (locked inside) at home all day.
Tuta loves to listen to music, draw and adores small animals, she’s a gentle soul who gets on with life , quietly and as best she can.
Samui-Phangan Rotary, local volunteers and donations have recently assisted Tuta to receive a medical checkup, begin to improve her home environment and enable Tuta to go to school 4 days a week.
Tuta has been doing really well in her new home with father and sister on nearby Koh Pangan. But sadly she is now suffering from infected lymph nodes exasperated by her diabetes and poor blood flow. She was admitted to the local hospital initially expected 2-3 nights but in the end was there 7 nights. Each night costs just 1,000 THB = approx. 22 GBP 27 USD 26 EUR but this is far more than the family can afford. Any help to get Tuta better again will be very much appreciated
Rotarian KL has made a second trip to Koh Phangan with supplies for a very happy Tuta. The home environment is a big improvement on her home (hut) in Bophut. Apparently she has had blood tests and all good. Her skin is still in good condition and she’s much cleaner.
Many thanks to our friends at Sisters of Samui (SOS) who donated 3 tubes of omega cream, Samui EcoPest for new bedding, Regina for the games, books, pencils and doll, iSUP Samui for swimmers, Harri for 1000 THB and Rotary for the sanitary napkins.
After much tender loving care from Mira of Smile Coconut Healthcare Co.,Ltd. www.facebook.com/pflegeurlaubthailand and KL of the Rotary Club - Tuta has gone to start a new life with her father on the nearby island of Koh Pangan. It seems like a much cleaner and supportive environment for her than Samui.
Before she left Mira and KL took her to Naton Hospital for another check up. Her skin condition is improving daily
Rotary and Smile Coconut Healthcare will continue to support Tuta. Donations raised will go to buy medication and skin cream she cannot get free at the local clinic.
Further updates will follow. Thank you all for your kind and continuing support
The world as Tuta knows it is already a much better place.
With the kind donations of money, items, time and effort, Tuta now sleeps on a raised platform and has a pillow and bedsheet.
Tuta is still struggling with a skin bacterial infection. She’s visited a family doctor, the local hospital and in the future will see a dermatologist. She is really well behaved while being ‘poked and prodded’ and knows exactly what to do with the blood pressure machine, rolls up her sleeve for blood tests and listens intently to the doctors and nurses. Hopefully with follow up care, medication and some more home improvements, her skin will heal.
She truly has a natural curiosity and a willingness to please all of those in her life. In the future we’d like to help Tuta by continuing to improve her home environment and focus on healthy eating. You can make this happen for her….
Thank you for Being Kind
