Fud is a sweet happy boy, so very frail but always with a smile and ready to make the most of each day. His mind is active and capable: he can speak well and enjoys learning maths and English.
But as you can see from the pictures he has Osteogenesis Imperfecta (brittle bones). and also suffers from very little muscle mass.
He lives with his aunt who works at the local market and so spends most days with her at the market. Rotary members try to include him in the activities of other special needs children but he needs constant 1-2-1 supervision and support.
Recently he has broken his arm pushing his wheelchair which has a broken wheel. Rotary are seeking funds to get him a suitable light-weight wheelchair and with enough funds we would like to pay for a private teacher for as many hours as possible each day
We went to visit Fud today - he spends most days with his grandmother at Lamai Market where she sells fried chicken. Always with a big smile on his face and happy to see visitors.
Grandmother explained (she is so young we previously assumed she was an aunty) that Fud's mother died and father moved away so she is primary and only care giver.
On top of his other challenges Fud also needs diapers - an added expense grandmother could well do without. On behalf of Rotary I purchased 3 packs to help keep them going.
1 pack of diapers approx. 400 THB = 12 USD 10 GBP
