Help us support Mr Rod
Our much-loved former music teacher, Courtney Rodriguez — known to generations of students and colleagues as “Mr Rod” — is currently facing stage 4 cancer.
Mr Rod has always been much more than a teacher. He has a remarkable ability to remember his students, stay connected with people long after they have left his classroom, and make people feel that they matter. So many former students and colleagues have remained in touch with him over the years, and his impact has reached far beyond the music room.
Why we are raising funds
We want to give Mr Rod some practical support during what is an incredibly difficult time.
Rather than deciding for him what he needs, we want the funds to give Mr Rod the freedom to use them however he sees fit.
That might mean:
Ready-made meals when cooking is difficult
Laundry services
A cleaner or other help around the home
Medication and medical expenses
Transportation
Everyday living expenses
Something that simply makes life a little easier or more comfortable
There are no rules about how he should spend the money. It is his support, and we want him to be able to use it in whatever way he needs most.
A community coming together
If Mr Rod has ever taught you, played music with you, encouraged you, made you laugh, remembered your name, or simply been someone who made a difference in your life, this is an opportunity to give a little of that care back.
Whether you knew him as a student, colleague, friend, or simply crossed paths with him along the way, every contribution can help.
No amount is too small.
Thank you ❤️
Thank you for helping us support someone who has spent so much of his life supporting others.
Every little helps. Thank you for your contribution.
With love and gratitude,
The Mr Rod community ❤️
we will make the first withdrawal of donations at the end of October, so that the funds can reach Mr Rod and support him with whatever he needs at that time.
We will then make a second withdrawal around Christmas, allowing us to provide another round of support during the holiday period.
