The Story

We are two brothers from Dalvík in north iceland planning to start a family buisness. our idea is to start a meadery(honey wine) and the focus is on wild mead, made in ancient way like the vikings did when they settled this area 1000+ years ago. we have been developing the product for long time now and we want and are ready to take the next step and start this meadery. the story of the first people here is rather hidden simply because there have been few or no occasion to tell it. In our project we are focused on to take the opportunity to spred the word out and tell the world about the people that we come from. how they treated and respect the nature and work with it to survive.
we try only to use fresh ingridients from our nature. dalvik is located by the sea in svarfaðardalur only few miles from the arctic circle, surrounded by high mountains of the troll peninsula. from the hills we find our wild berries and other ingridients that we use to make the taste of history in a bottle. For now we are working on 3 types of mead. for an example we use bilberries, empetrum/crowberries, elderberries, brambleberries wild thyme, icelandic dried moss, angelica and more
the only ingridient that are hard to get is the raw honey we use. another idea of the buisness is to build sustainable greenhouse connected to beecove to keep the berries and plants growing all year around(because of course there is winter here for the most part of the year, so we have short time to collect the ingridients) but with the advent of a greenhouse the plants could grow all year.
the greenhouse will be as sustainable as possible. we have the wind, strong sunlight(also in winter time) for solarcells and running rivers and springs everywhere to generate electricity power. we will create running water and ponds inside with circuit system and heating mats in the floor for evaporation to create moist and even rain. live pest control and the bottom line, bees to pollinate the plants and making the honey we need. in the summertime the bees can do there job in the nature. the idea is basically to make a nature in a house.
the dream or the big picture is to build up ancient village around the greenhouse and the meadery. with pagan cottages that people could rent, tavern, herbalist, black smiths and many things more that are still on the sketchboard. in this area there is alot of possibilities of experience such as whale watching, skiing/heliskiing, tours to grímsey the northest settlement in iceland. horse riding on our small strong icelandic horses. northern lights tours and you can see amazing history of how people survied through ages in this harsh country, you'll be surprised.
we want to increase that experience with our ideas, we have alot of them but first we will start our meadery but unfortunately we don't have the budget we need to start. if you would please be so kind and generous to make our dream come true you can donate to us and we'll get started when we reach the goal.
if you want more information about the ideas or get in contact our email is myrkvun@myrkvun.com or myrkvun@gmail.com
thank you for the reading
sincerely
