Kick for Paws: Charity Football Match Supporting Home for Handicapped Animals

The Home For Handicapped Animals Foundation has its origins in the family of Mr. Pimkul Olarasiri (Reunoo Julasukhon), who initially began assisting various disabled animals on their journey to recovery from illness. These animals were kept as companions to alleviate their loneliness. However, as their numbers grew, the confined space became burdensome, and the noise and odors began to disturb the neighbors. Consequently, a decision was made to relocate the facility outside the city, and in the year 2524 B.E., it was officially named the "Home For Handicapped Animals."

In 2532 B.E., Khun Chawon Chuan Komaraku at Nakhon (Yungyeun) learned about the foundation and expressed a desire to contribute. He then purchased and donated a 200-square-wah plot of land, where the foundation's office is located in Ban Mai Sub-district, Pak Kret District, Nonthaburi Province. A permanent shelter was constructed in 2533 B.E.

In 2536 B.E., Luang Ta Maha Bua Yanasampanno of Wat Pa Baan Taad in Udon Thani Province visited and, having compassion for the disabled animals, saw the challenges and burdens of caring for these animals. He generously allowed an additional one-rai plot of land to be purchased and used for the foundation, permitting it to be officially established as the "Home For Handicapped Animals Foundation (under the patronage of Luang Ta Maha Bua Yanasampanno)"—a name it carries to this day.

Currently, the foundation has gained recognition from the external community, reflecting in increased support. This support has come in various forms, including donations of goods, food, medicine, and additional resources. While this has allowed the foundation to help more animals and encourage collective care for them, it has also led to a rapid increase in the number of disabled animals being abandoned and placed under the responsibility of the foundation. This influx, particularly of dogs and cats, has resulted in overcrowding, adversely affecting the health of the animals, especially those with physical disabilities or skin conditions.

In response to these challenges, the foundation and its board of directors have recognized the importance of proper housing for these disabled animals and strays. Currently, there is a need for a sufficient and permanent shelter. The foundation is actively raising funds to construct a "Permanent Shelter for Handicapped Animals" in Bang Len District, Nakhon Pathom Province. This initiative requires substantial financial support to ensure its success.

Currently, the Home For Handicapped Animals Foundation in Pak Kret is facing complaints regarding noise and odor issues. There are limitations on the number of animals allowed to stay on the premises, with only 50 disabled dogs permitted. The number of cats has also been restricted, but there are currently around 150 recovering feline residents. The foundation is responsible for over 300 disabled dogs, and due to these constraints, there is a necessity to relocate them to a new facility in Bang Len, Nakhon Pathom Province.

To facilitate this move and address the growing needs, the foundation is actively collecting funds to establish a "Permanent Shelter for Handicapped Animals." Significant financial assistance is required to make this project a reality, and any support towards this cause would be greatly appreciated.
